Doug Stanhope’s Companion CD/DVD to ‘Before Turning the Gun on Himself’

Back in March, comedian Doug Stanhope gave his fans a CD (Before Turning the Gun on Himself ) that featured the comic in his prime and at his finest (you can read our review here). With tracks bashing Doctor Drew Pinsky, Keynesian economics and AA, Stanhope displayed his typical, fearless style of stand-up.
Now he’s a releasing a companion DVD to Before Turning the Gun on Himself. Available on November 6 – the day of the presidential election – and recorded in Salt Lake City, Utah, this companion CD/DVD combo gives a visual element to the album, which debuted #1 on Billboard, iTunes and Amazon comedy charts.
Stanhope has been blowing up lately, garnering praise from fellow comedian Ricky Gervais, who said, “Doug might be the most important stand-up working today.” Stanhope was also featured in Louis C.K.’s FX show Louie in season two, episode nine, ”Where he earned rave reviews for a character Louie wrote with Doug in mind.”
