Earlier today, Gilda’s LaughFest announced the addition of veteran comedian Sinbad to their  second annual March 8-18th 2012 comedy festival.

The event’s organizers also announced the return of The Bob & Tom Comedy All-Stars. This portion is to be hosted by nationally syndicated Bob & Tom Show‘s co-host Kristi Lee. Consistently featuring rising comedy stars, the radio show is bringing Jimmy Pardo, Tommy Johnagin and Drew Hastings to appear in their time slot.

The Grand Rapids, MI event is already stacked with comedic talent including Whoopi Goldberg, Kevin Nealon, Jim Gaffigan, Rodney Carrington and Bo Burnham.

In keeping with tradition, Gilda’s LaughFest will host a nationwide stand-up comedy competition, where comedians from all over the states will duke it out for $10,000. Some comics set to compete are Chad Daniels, Nikki Glaser, Phil Hanley, Reese Waters and Christina Pazsitzky. Last year’s winner, Michael Kosta, is not confirmed to perform or compete.

LaughFest also announced the return of the Clean Comedy Showcase, which includes comedians Keith Alberstadt, Jeff Caldwell, Jan McInnis, Brad Upton Tim Cavanagh, Don Friesen, Rex Havens and Rocky LaPorte.

The Best of the Midwest Showcase will also be returning to the festival’s stage. Comedians Mike Bobbitt, Mike Brody, Sean Flannery, Felicia Gillespie, Michael Malone, Floyd Phillips, Lyndel Pleasant, Amber Preston, Mike Stanley and Dan Telfer will be in competition for a cool $2,500.

Stand-up isn’t all that’s on the agenda. LaughFest will also host some special events featuring original Saturday Night Live writer Alan Zweibel and the real Patch Adams will appear in the festival’s new series, Laughter Rx. This will highlight the benefits laughter brings to both physical and emotional health. The Laurie Berkner Band will also be performing as a part of LaughFest’s family-friendly performances.

The festival was created to help raise money for Gilda’s Club’s center (52 in total) that helps support cancer patients and their families.

Tickets can be purchased and more information can be found on the LaughFest website.
