On June 1st, a comedy club in London had a big surprise for all the attendees. Jerry Seinfeld came unannounced and took the stage at the Comedy Store in Piccadilly Circus.
Seinfeld last performed at the Palladium on July 5 1998, thirteen years ago, when tickets for the date sold out in less than 30 minutes. This year tickets did not have a special price tag and were sold as regular Wednesday night show tickets. Seinfeld was introduced by Andy Smart right after the scheduled performances by Neil Mullarkey, Paul Merton, Richard Vranch, Josie Lawrence and Lee Simpson. Smart later shared the surprised turn of event with his twitter followers.
“I never thought I’d ever say this, but I’ve just introduced Jerry Seinfeld at the Comedy Store. A good day at work!”
The famous comedian’s appearance was kept secret for most of the audience that gave a loud gasp and then a standing ovation to the comedy legend. After a 30-minute talk about Twitter, the Arnold Schwarzenegger scandal and, of course, the Royal Wedding, Seinfeld answered questions from the audience.
Seinfeld is scheduled to appear at the O2 arena on June 3.
