Kelly Pryce at The Punchline

Headlines Sacramento Punchline One Night Only! October 1

Sacramento native Kelly Pryce is a regular opener for Dave Attell, Bay Area Legend Larry “Bubbles” Brown has made 2 appearances on David Letterman, and DC Ervin has performed on Bill Bellamy’s “Who’s Got Jokes.”

Kelly’s stand up career started in-utero as soon as her mother realized Mexico was too far away to go for an abortion. She was born into a blue collar lifestyle- well, it would have been had her parents had jobs or any money. Her father died when she was a baby. Her mother knew that she would have to find a new father for her bundle of funny. Kelly wished she would have looked for a man with no arms, but single mothers have no time to be choosey when securing a new husband. Kelly’s childhood was filled with all of the comforts poverty would allow. (Yes, you can buy candy with food stamps; it’s a fact.)

Kelly attended a visual and performing arts high school. She soon realized boys loved her visual and performing “art” and ended up with a three year running show called “Looking for Daddy”. Boys loved it, but the female demographic panned it as slutty and lacking class. She left high school early with a GED and the knowledge that liquor is quicker, but coke takes away those pesky pounds and last little bit of inhibition. On her 18th birthday she met her future husband. They shared a love of weed and minimum wage jobs. On her 22nd birthday she decided that stand-up was the way to go. She did her first set a week after her 25th birthday. Audiences found her commentary on social nuances to be uplifting and hysterical. She started doing stand-up as much as her job as a waitress at the all-night Truckadaro would allow.

Meanwhile, Jason and Kelly’s love flourished and soon they realized a sinking ship needs a baby. Kelly enjoyed being pregnant. It was the first time in her life she did not order extra sodas to fool the drive-thru lady into thinking all those burgers were for her co-workers. Childbirth was a breeze. She delivered a 9lb 12oz baby boy and she always felt her taint was useless anyway. Being a new mother was a dream. Kelly had always wanted to not sleep and have her nipples crack and bleed.

Around this time Kelly started to listen to morning radio. Even through the sleep depravation she knew her mission was to make people laugh in the morning. She found a morning show on KWOD 106.5. Boomer and Kelly in the morning was an instant hit, “I had no idea someone could say vagina so many times in four hours” said Ron Bunce the stations Program Director. “I am going to have to fire you” said the General Manager of the radio station.

Kelly currently resides in California. During the day she poses as a devoted mother; at night she is a wino with one of the funniest stand up acts in the business. If you get a chance, come and see her show. You won’t be disappointed. If you are, Kelly will hopefully be too drunk to remember what you said.
