Maya Rudolph as Oprah Winfrey: The Sketch That Didn’t Make The Cut on ‘Saturday Night Live’

Now don’t get me wrong, Maya Rudolph as host of Saturday Night Live on February 18 was probably the best episode this season, and I feel this sketch is proof of that. When this doesn’t make the show, you know you have a lot of good material to work with.

NBC has released footage from dress rehearsal on SNL of Maya doing her amazing impression of the one and only Oprah Winfrey during “Weekend Update.” It’s sad to see this did not make the cut, but when she had other impressions that were so great, like Beyonce, Maya Angelou and First Lady Michelle Obama, there has to be some sketches that get lost on the editing floor.

It looks like Maya – I mean Oprah – was having a fun time with Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler, so just imagine what they could have done during the live telecast. Oh well, thanks to Hulu and NBC we can still enjoy it.

Check out the footage from the dress rehearsal below and let us know if you think it should have made the live show.

I think it got cut because they broke so much – which is hilarious. I can’t believe I missed this clip. I concur though, that episode was the best in a really really long time!
