TBS network has greenlit yet another sitcom from Tyler Perry Studios. This will be the third from Perry. The network which already airs House Of Pain and Meet The Browns, has ordered 10 more additional episodes of Tyler Perry’s For Better Or Worse.
The series is based on Perry’s movies Why Did I Get Married? and Why did I get Married Too? and follows the ups and downs of a married couple Marcus and Angela played by Michael Jai White and Tasha Smith, who originally starred in the movies. The show is expected to be followed by a massive 90-episode pickup after the initial 10 episodes.
“Tyler Perry’s series have been tremendously successful for TBS, helping establish the network as a prime destination for African-American viewers,” said head of programming for TBS Michael Wright.
Unlike the other sitcoms that are more family-oriented, For Better Or Worse main target will be young adults. Perry himself is seems very optimistic about the upcoming series.
“I’m really looking forward to exploring new territory with For Better Or Worse,” he said. “Working on House of Payne taught me a lot about what it takes to make a successful television series, and I’m looking forward to applying that experience to For Better Or Worse.”
For Better Or Worse will begin production this summer at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.
