The two dream weavers of song came together in a promo for Comedy Bang! Bang! where Yankovic is featured on Gass and Black’s performance of “Rock is Dead.” I can’t think of one pairing of people that would make me want to watch a show more. Although, I would have loved to see Weird Al be a little… weirder. Black and Gass perform the song with their trademark coolness and Weird Al interrupts the rock, hilariously, with his trademark accordion playing. If nothing else, the collaboration has officially proved by stopping a bad ass rock song (which includes the words “devil tattoo” and “Zeppelin the Led”) dead in its tracks for a polka.
Maybe I’ll just have to watch the show, but I just could not keep myself from wanting more! A lyrical collaboration between these two powerhouses could mean a lot to their fans. Can you imagine? A rock-polka love-child spawn of Tenacious D and Weird Al. I would be very interested in hearing what that would sound like. It could be the next great thing in music and comedy.
