What Does Host Russell Brand Have Planned for Sunday Night’s MTV Movie Awards?

Tomorrow night at 9 p.m. ET MTV is presenting its annual movie awards show, and this year’s host is the eccentric, former sex addict Russell Brand.
Is he as crazy as he used to be? Probably not. I’d say he’s likely been depressed over the whole Katy Perry thing. I just hope that it doesn’t affect his ability to be funny. Brand has a certain manic energy about him and divorces usually don’t make you manic.
So what does the British comedian have planned for the awards show? That was the topic of discussion during his interview with MTV’s Josh Horowitz.
“[The producers] just go, ‘Do whatever you want!’ And then one hour later they’ll say, ‘You shouldn’t have done that,’” Brand said. “It’s a weird technique!”
The producers, however, say they have Russell’s back and are planning to give him “free reign” over the show.
“No, that’s wrong,” producer Jesse Ignjatovic said when asked whether Brand will get in any hot water if he crosses the line during Sunday night’s performance. “There’s no yelling at Russell. It’s all love. The show ends, we go and we hug him, and we tell him it’s great. It’s all love.”
As for Brand, he couldn’t be more excited. The show is all about what he enjoys, and he’s the center of attention. But there is one thing he says is missing.
“MTV Movie Awards incorporates two of my favorite things: movies and awards,” the comedian said. “If somehow group sex could be involved it would be the greatest night of my life.”
